tell 'em i ain't coming back

I'm done with New York, save for continuing to support/sort of telepresence-something at NYC Resistor, and the pissing-few things I have in storage.

I said I'd go back. Clung to the thought. Don't want to, any longer.

Finding a way to get everything there, here. Finding a place here, where "here" is currently 21st and Guerrero, and maybe later the badlands of the Mission, the empty zone by the freeway.

I still want to be involved there, but I am far too busy with rediscovered passions to put up with living there.

I am alive and strangely well.

(Hey, LJ. I haven't seen you in a while. Turns out Google Plus is kind of pathetic and Facebook is far worse.)

Well 2000 miles closer (cause of course it's all about me) but still in a rad city. Also, yay LJ! Tempted ask what you're doing but I'm sure you'll say in due course.

Old tech FTW.

I'm writing a web app for a solar power engineering company. I'm working on some open source software. It's pretty good, though now I'm combing through sublets and constantly low-level freaked out that I don't have a place to live.

Well, hello again! We gave up our share of the farm in Massachusetts, and are working on her immigration to Canada. So, for us, 'goodbye to the North East', as well. ^_^

Yep, interesting how life moves... I never thought you'd not have the farm! But hooray, BC.

Long story short, it was a financial boat-anchor that was going to prevent from ever hoping to buy a house on one of the coasts of Canada (east, west, north coast all equally acceptable).

I **shall** miss the skinny-dipping in the pond, though. it was sublimely amusing to think that, by frobbing about with the dam-boards, I could stop the headwaters of the Nashua River from flowing. Well, not actually 'stop': the sluices leaked like crazy, so I don't think we inconvenienced the downstream frogs and birds all that much. But it was definitely engineer-porn.

Muahahahaha!

-- love, a girl who played Sim City not so she could build cities but just to mess around with the terrain forming simulator, and spent her high school prom arm-deep in a model estuary.

Financial boat anchors, aye. I'm sort of eyeing actual boats, in that stupid-arse way that engineers do.

And north coast? It seems doable, if you like houses on permafrost pilings. Suspect the Inner Passage is much kinder, however.

Hello! Wish we could've hung out while you were on the east coast, but I completely understand...

Well, and this, the other thing:

This is one of the bike rides I've gone on since I've been out here. (Two months ago, now.) There was a certain moment at about mile 30 that was just... so absurdly much the best thing ever.

Oh, hey - someone else to visit in the Bay Area!

(I'm probably going to be looking at post-docs down there, just because.)

I'm so, SO happy to hear that you've found a place and way to live that makes you happier. I'll miss seeing you, but honestly, hearing you sound more at peace with your life is even better!

Thanks. :) I don't want to do the drive right now, though. And I'm not in a hurry to move stuff. Still don't have a permanent place to live.

I wasn't posting much either.

I remember you because, I think, we're the only two people with "greylight" as an interest. Also, tea on Park Ave.
